Andrew Roubas, Shihan (Chief Instructor)
6th Dan Goju-Ryu, 4th Dan Kobudo, 2nd Dan Hapkido. Title of Shihan.
Goju-Ryu (1971 - 2007*) *continues to train.
Shihan Andrew Roubas started his Goju-Ryu training in 1971 just 2 months after arriving in Australia from Greece. He started his training with Con Harda for 3 years before training under Merv Oakley (Australias leading Goju-Ryu instructor of the time). Shihan Andrew also trained with Shihan George Barounis and became a direct student of Gonnohyoe Yamamotto (8th Dan). In 1983, Shihan Andrew founded Andrew Roubas Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Academy and at one stage was teaching 6 days a week with 4 independant schools. In 1985 Shihan Andrew travelled to Japan to train directly under Yamamotto and received his 4th Dan. As a token of friendship Yamamotto presented his first Black Belt to Shihan Andrew. Shihan Andrew's training is not limited to Goju-Ryu, in 1986 he received 1st Degree Black Belt in Hapkido under Master Sung Soo See, he also received 4th Dan in Kobudo Weapon training in 1995 and was presented the title of Shihan from Grandmaster Joe Onopa from the USA. Master Onopa also presented Shihan Andrew with his 6th Dan in 2002. Shihan Andrew is also a qualified coach and tournament official and has received many more acknowledgements that cannot all be listed.

Karate is about self improvement. Each session in the dojo should be about being better than you were the day before.
Shihan has been known to regularly shout out;
"The best form of defence is attack!"
